Tirah valley: Rescue 1122 continues relief operation for third day amid heavy snowfall

WEB DESK: On the special directives of the chief minister, Rescue 1122’s relief operation in Khyber’s Tirah Valley continued for a third consecutive day despite severe weather conditions, officials said on Monday.

According to Rescue 1122, teams from Khyber, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi and Nowshera remain actively deployed in the field, even as heavy snowfall persists across the region. Rescue personnel are carrying out relief activities across several affected areas, including the stretch from Painda Cheena to Mehrban and Dawatoi Bagh.

Officials said that more than 500 vehicles stranded in deep snow have so far been safely pulled out as part of the ongoing operation. In addition, over 2,350 affected individuals have been rescued from snowbound locations in Tirah Valley.

Women and children were among those shifted to safer places, while more than 200 injured persons and patients were provided timely medical assistance on the spot, Rescue 1122 said. Heavy machinery and emergency vehicles remain fully operational to ensure swift response in hard-to-reach areas.

A command post established at Painda Cheena, along with the district control room, is functioning round the clock to coordinate rescue and relief efforts. Rescue 1122 is conducting the operation in close coordination with the district administration, security forces and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

Authorities said rescue operations would continue until all affected areas are fully cleared and normal movement is restored, urging residents to follow official advisories and cooperate with rescue teams.
