PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed three terrorists during an operation in Peshawar, while two of their accomplices escapec.
According to the CTD, targeted operations are being carried out across the province to completely eradicate terrorism. As part of these efforts, the CTD Peshawar conducted a successful operation on the basis of confirmed intelligence, killing three unidentified terrorists, while two others fled the scene.
In a statement, the CTD said it had received credible information that several militants were present near Khoon Baba graveyard on Azakhel Road, within the jurisdiction of Matni police station, and were planning a major subversive activity.
Following the tip-off, CTD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams launched the operation.
The CTD said the terrorists opened fire on the police party during the operation, prompting retaliatory fire in self-defence. As a result, three terrorists were killed, while two managed to escape.
During a search of the area, the bodies of the three terrorists were recovered. The CTD also seized three Kalashnikov rifles and nine magazines from their possession.
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Additional IG CTD lauded the CTD personnel for the successful operation, saying their efforts to protect the lives and property of the public were commendable.
