WEB DESK: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that future conflicts will be shaped less by physical manoeuvres and more by technological capabilities, fundamentally transforming the way both offensive and defensive military operations are conducted.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the field marshal emphasised that rapid technological advancement would redefine warfare, making innovation and adaptability critical for modern armed forces. He said it was for this reason that Pakistan’s armed forces were swiftly integrating advanced technologies into their operational and training frameworks.

He added that innovation, indigenous development and adaptability would remain the core pillars of this transformation, ensuring long-term operational readiness and self-reliance.

Focus on digital skills and education

During his visit to Bahawalpur, Field Marshal Munir inaugurated the Roh-e-Ilm Skills Learning Hub, an initiative aimed at expanding access to digital skills and educational opportunities, particularly for students from southern Punjab and other parts of the country.

The learning hub is designed to equip young people with modern technological skills, enabling them to compete in an increasingly digital global economy, the ISPR said.

The field marshal also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reaffirming the Pakistan Army’s commitment to providing quality education and character-building for future generations.

Visit to EME workshop, briefing on maintenance systems

Field Marshal Munir also visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on maintenance systems being employed to sustain modern military platforms. The briefing highlighted the use of advanced technologies, indigenous manufacturing solutions and other combat-support measures aimed at enhancing efficiency and operational sustainability.

The ISPR said the visit underscored the army’s focus on strengthening local production capabilities and improving technical expertise to support evolving defence requirements.

Tribute to martyrs

Upon his arrival at the Bahawalpur Garrison, the field marshal was received by the Commander Bahawalpur Corps. He later laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered Fateha, paying tribute to the supreme sacrifices made by Pakistan’s fallen soldiers.

Field Marshal Munir expressed deep respect and gratitude for the martyrs, acknowledging their enduring contribution to the country’s security and sovereignty.

The visit, the ISPR added, reflected the armed forces’ dual focus on technological advancement, education and remembrance of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
