WEB DESK: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Saturday defended the verdict in the Toshakhana-II case and shifted focus to claims made about Imran Khan’s children, saying there was no evidence they had sought visas to visit their father.
Speaking to the media, Chaudhry said the Toshakhana-II judgment was “based on justice” and should have been delivered earlier. He maintained that state gifts were unlawfully retained and later sold, an act he said had brought embarrassment to the country. He added that there was a clear contradiction between Imran Khan’s public statements and actions, and that branding the case as “political” could not absolve anyone of responsibility.
Addressing repeated claims by PTI leaders that Imran Khan’s children were being prevented from meeting their father, Chaudhry said no visa applications had been submitted on their behalf. “If visas have been applied for, the tracking numbers should be presented,” he said, adding that the government had not received any such documentation.
Chaudhry went further, claiming that Imran Khan’s children themselves were unwilling to travel to Pakistan to meet their father. He said authorities had nonetheless facilitated extended contact, allowing Imran Khan to speak with his children for 14 hours, countering allegations of restricted communication.
The minister also warned against any assumption that accountability would stop with one individual. “One person involved in bringing Imran Khan to power has already been punished,” he said, adding that no one should remain under the illusion that others would escape scrutiny. “Accountability will come for everyone, one by one,” Chaudhry said.
His remarks come amid heightened political debate following the Toshakhana-II verdict, with PTI leaders continuing to challenge the ruling while the government insists the process reflects rule of law rather than political targeting.
