Star Wars actor quits ‘Ahsoka’ season two

Star Wars actor Claudia Black has revealed she will not return for the second season of Ahsoka, confirming she has stepped away from the series due to a pay dispute.

Black, who played Nightsister Klothow in the first season, said she had initially been picked up for season two but ultimately “had to bow out” after Disney was unable to meet the salary she needed as a single mother living in Los Angeles while production was set to take place in London.

She explained that the production’s move to London would have required her to be away from home for an extended period, and the pay offered was not enough to maintain her responsibilities in Los Angeles. “It was not something that they could make happen, and therefore, I had to bow out for season two,” she said.

Black described it as a difficult decision and shared that she emailed showrunner Dave Filoni to thank him for the opportunity. “I said, ‘What a ride.’ Everyone like me who grew up in the 70s and 80s has always been into the Star Wars universe, and it is a very playful environment to work in.” The actor added that she was grateful to have been part of the franchise, especially as her young son is a fan.

Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson as former Jedi Ahsoka Tano, premiered on Disney+ in 2023. Production on season two is expected to begin in 2025.
