Smog update: schools, offices to remain closed this Saturday in 8 districts of Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, has announced crucial decisions aimed at mitigating smog in the province at a meeting held on Wednesday.

He stated that educational institutions and offices in eight districts of Punjab will remain closed only for this Saturday, November 18 to overcome smog.

He further said that Section 144 has been imposed in Lahore Division, Gujranwala and Hafizabad. Educational institutions, government and private offices, cinemas, parks and restaurants will remain closed on Saturday. Markets will open after 3pm on Saturday.

Commission on environment

He also announced a commission on the environment.

Artificial Rain:

Naqvi further mentioned that ongoing consultations are in progress regarding the possibility of inducing artificial rain in the province as a measure to combat smog.
