Karachi: The Sindh government has issued an official notification announcing a change in school timings across the province due to the ongoing cold wave.
According to the notification, all government and private schools in Sindh will now open at 9:00 AM for the next two weeks. Regular school activities and timetables after classes will continue as usual.
Officials said the decision was taken to ensure students’ health and safety and to make commuting easier during the severe cold. The new timings will remain in effect until January 26, 2026.
The provincial education department has requested parents and teachers to adjust their schedules according to the new timings to maintain the smooth flow of education and ensure students remain safe during the winter season.
Winter vacations in Punjab extended
The Punjab government has announced a one-week extension in the winter holidays for all educational institutions across the province, citing student health concerns and harsh weather conditions.
According to the decision, schools, colleges, and other educational institutions in Punjab will now reopen on January 19, instead of the previously scheduled January 12.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the decision was taken after public consultation through a survey conducted on his official social media platform. He noted that the move reflects the government’s commitment to prioritising the health and safety of students during the ongoing spell of severe cold and fog.
