LAHORE: Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has politely declined the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) offer to appoint him as Consultant International Cricket and Players Affairs, choosing instead to focus fully on his playing career.

According to reports, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had recently made a verbal offer to Shan Masood, considering his strong educational background and deep understanding of the game. The proposal aimed to benefit from Masood’s insights alongside his role as a senior national cricketer.

However, Shan Masood requested Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to excuse him from the responsibility, explaining that managing an administrative role alongside international cricket would be difficult. Shan said that he desires to concentrate solely on his cricket at this stage of his career and thanked the chairman for considering him worthy of the position.

Sources say that Shan Masood also apologised to Mohsin Naqvi for being unable to accept the offer. The PCB chairman, understanding Masood’s viewpoint, expressed his best wishes and respected the decision.

It is worth noting that the PCB had been keen to utilise Shan Masood’s services beyond the field, and the idea of appointing him as a consultant was discussed as early as October. For now, Masood will continue to lead Pakistan’s Test side, with his full focus remaining on on-field performances.
