Security preparations intensify ahead of Pak-Aus series

LAHORE: As the cricket fever rises ahead of the Pakistan-Australia T20 series, Lahore Police have gone into full action mode, rolling out an extensive and high-alert security plan to ensure smooth and safe matches in the provincial capital.

According to police officials, a robust security force comprising nine superintendents of police (SP), 25 deputy superintendents of police (DSP) and 73 station house officers (SHO) has been deployed for the series. In total, more than 6,000 officers and personnel, including 351 upper subordinates and 188 lady constables, will be performing security duties during the matches. In addition, over 1,000 traffic wardens have been assigned to manage traffic flow and ensure hassle-free movement for spectators.

Three matches of the Pakistan-Australia T20 series will be played in Lahore, turning the city into the epicentre of international cricket excitement, said police spokesperson Bilal Siddique Kamiana.

CCPO Lahore stated that security across the city will remain on high alert throughout the series, adding that Lahore Police are providing foolproof security to domestic and foreign cricketers, match officials and fans. Police officers have been directed to remain in constant coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and other relevant institutions.

The CCPO further instructed that security SOPs must be fully implemented at the cricket stadium, players’ residences and along all designated routes. Strict screening measures will be enforced at entry points, while female spectators will be searched and checked by women police officers to ensure a secure and comfortable environment.

Special directives have also been issued to ensure effective traffic management on match days, allowing fans to reach the stadium without disruption.

With Lahore Police on high alert and security plans locked in, the city is all set to host a thrilling T20 showdown as Pakistan take on Australia in front of packed, roaring crowds.
