ISLAMABAD: Residents of several sectors in Islamabad, particularly G-8 and F-10, have raised concerns over persistently low gas pressure, creating difficulties in daily life as winter sets in.
Housewife Jameela Khatoon, a resident of G-8, recounted the challenges she faces in preparing meals due to the weak gas supply. “Cooking has become a struggle,” she said, adding that even simple tasks like boiling water or preparing tea now take much longer.
Content creator Ali Zafar Khan, also from G-8, highlighted the discomfort caused by the issue during cold nights. “Low gas pressure makes it hard to heat our homes properly. The nights are particularly uncomfortable, and it’s taking a toll on our daily routine,” he said.
Similarly, Zeemal, a writer and painter from F-10, noted that the problem has persisted since the onset of winter. “We are constantly waiting for the supply to improve, but it seems like the system is under stress. Meanwhile, the monthly bills keep coming in huge amounts, which is frustrating,” she said.
According to residents, the low gas pressure not only disrupts household chores but also affects small businesses that rely on gas for operations, increasing the inconvenience during the colder months. A home chef, working with FoodPanda is among many others who have expressed disappointment over the lack of timely solutions despite repeated complaints to the authorities.
Experts suggest that increased demand during the winter months could be contributing to the reduced pressure, along with potential supply management issues. Citizens have urged the government and gas distribution companies to take immediate measures to ensure adequate supply and prevent further hardship.
Authorities have yet to issue an official response regarding the low gas pressure complaints from Islamabad’s residents. Meanwhile, affected households continue to cope with long cooking times, cold nights, and rising utility bills, highlighting the urgent need for a sustainable solution.
