ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi has said that he commends the work of Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, and the whole nation has high hopes of him, who will fulfill them.

“I did not send a reference against Justice Faiz Isa. The reference was sent to me from the Prime Minister’s House. Later, the former prime minister said that the reference should not have been forwarded,” Dr Alvi said talking to Geo News.

“I’m not sure if elections will be held in January. Looking at the current state of the country, we should have immediate elections. Transparent elections will be better for the country, and it will be beneficial for the economy if the people have a say in the future,” he said.

I appreciate the statement of Nawaz Sharif against seeking revenge. “The PML-N is looking for a new narrative. Just the other day, the PML-N conducted a survey, and the survey showed that people want the PML-N to move forward together. This is a good opportunity for the PML-N, as everyone is talking about level playing field at the moment,” he said.

He said that the constitution says that the current president should continue his responsibilities until the next president is elected. “There is a possibility in the parliamentary system that the government may not complete its term. Pakistan is facing major challenges under the democratic system,” he said.

President Alvi said that while he was on a pilgrimage, the Senate chairman signed the Election Act.” If he had not gone on a pilgrimage, I would not have signed the Election Act,” he said.

He said that issues were arising regarding the census. I called the election commissioner for a meeting on elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but he did not show up. “The Ministry of Law told me that setting a date was not my prerogative. I said that elections should be held by November 6.”

He said that innocent people are being martyred in Palestine; innocent children are becoming martyrs. No one can tolerate injustice against children. Peace will be in the interest of the region.
