Ranbir Kapoor sparks controversy over eating non-vegetarian dishes

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is facing criticism after a video surfaced showing him eating mutton, beef, fish and paye, despite his earlier claims of following a vegetarian routine.

According to India Today, Kapoor is currently filming his upcoming mythological project Ramayana, where he plays the role of Lord Ram. During the shoot, he had reportedly stated that he would avoid mutton and beef. His media team had also said that the actor would abstain from alcohol, smoking and non-vegetarian food during the entire filming schedule.

The controversy emerged after a video from a show titled Dining With the Kapoors went viral. The episode was recorded to mark Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary and shows Kapoor enjoying a variety of non-vegetarian dishes with his family, prompting widespread criticism online.

Ranbir Kapoor had recently said he adopted a strict sattvic lifestyle to prepare for his role. He had claimed to have given up alcohol, smoking and all forms of non-vegetarian food.

In the viral clip, however, he is seen eating fish curry with rice, wild mutton and paye while sitting with family members including Neetu Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan.

Social media users have sharply criticised the actor’s PR team, accusing it of making misleading statements about his lifestyle choices. One user pointed out that the team had earlier stated Kapoor quit non-vegetarian food out of respect for his role in Ramayana, yet the video shows him consuming meat dishes with his family.

Several users also questioned the credibility of Bollywood PR teams and said such claims should not be made without verifying available footage.
