According to the notification issued by the Punjab School Education Department, teaching hours in single-shift schools will run from 10am to 2:15pm from Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays classes will be held from 10am to 12:30pm.

For double-shift schools, the morning shift will operate from 10 am to 2 pm, while the afternoon shift has been scheduled from 2:15 pm to 4:45 pm.

For teachers, the Monday-to-Thursday schedule will include curriculum preparation, training activities and participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

The notification makes it mandatory for teachers to take part in training and curriculum-related activities.

In addition, teachers’ attendance will also be mandatory on alternate Saturdays to help improve teaching standards and curriculum quality.

The School Education Department said the revised timings aim not only to make students’ academic activities more effective and balanced but also to provide teachers with opportunities for lesson planning and training.

The move is expected to help raise educational standards and enhance students’ learning capacity.

The department stressed that both teachers and students must adhere strictly to the new schedule to improve educational quality and classroom performance.
