PTI chief’s plea against IHC verdict fixed for hearing on August 23


ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday fixed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former prime minister’s plea against conviction in the Toshakhana case for hearing on August 23.

Imran Khan had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Islamabad High Court’s decision on August 3rd. The decision involved sending the matter of the Toshakhana case, deemed fit for hearing, back to Judge Humayun Dilawar.

The appeal was formally submitted by his legal counsel, Khawaja Haris, who acted on behalf of his client.

According to the details, the petition will be heard by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial. Justice Mazahir Naqvi and Justice Jamal Mandokhel will hear the PTI chairman’s plea.

Toshakhana case: 3 years jail, 5 years disqualification for PTI chairman

On August 5, Humayun Dilawar, handed down a verdict against the PTI Chairman in the Toshakhana case, under section 174 of the Elections Act, which entails a three-year sentence to jail and a five-year disqualification from running for public office.
