Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD – In a recent development, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken a significant legal step by filing a petition with the Supreme Court against Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The petition, lodged under Article 186-A, was submitted to the apex court today on behalf of the PTI Chairman by Latif Khosa, marking a noteworthy escalation in the ongoing legal proceedings.

Expressing his stance, the petitioner emphatically appealed, “My cases should be transferred from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to either the Lahore High Court or the Peshawar High Court.”

Additionally, the petitioner has requested that Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC be restrained from presiding over the cases against him, citing concerns about potential biases affecting the legal proceedings.

This development follows a decisive announcement made by the PTI Core Committee on Tuesday. The committee revealed its intention to take the matter to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) with the aim of initiating a reference against Justice Aamer Farooq.

Notably, the committee called for the immediate recusal of the IHC chief justice from involvement in the cases. The PTI has also directed its plea to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, urging him to take notice of the situation and address the concerns raised.
