PSX opens positive as KSE-100 gains over 1,100 points

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened Thursday’s session on a positive note, with the benchmark KSE-100 index gaining momentum in the early hours.
By 9:45 AM, the index had surged 1,591 points to 163,817, supported by a trading volume of 19.4 million shares. However, the market trimmed some of its gains as the morning progressed, and by 11:15 AM, the KSE-100 index was up 610.86 points at 162,837, with volume rising to nearly 75 million shares.
By early afternoon, the index maintained modest gains, reaching 162,775.64 at 1:19 PM, up 549.37 points or 0.34 percent, with total volume hitting 134.7 million shares.
The market has shown strong performance over the past year, with a one-year gain of 70.36 percent and a year-to-date rise of 41.39 percent. On the day, the index moved between 162,646.98 and 163,817.82, while the 52-week range remains between 94,180.60 and 169,988.62.
Trading activity was led by Worldcall Telecom (WTL), Pakistan Telecommunication Company (PTC), and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer (GCIL), all posting notable gains. Top advancers included Oilboy Energy Limited (OBOY), SGPL, and SARC, which surged over 10 percent. Conversely, AGICR2, FIMM, and Redco saw the largest declines, falling between 8 and 11 percent.
The previous session ended on a strong note, with the KSE-100 index climbing 1,291.14 points or 0.80 percent to close at 162,226.27.
During Wednesday’s trade, the index recorded an intraday high of 162,741.73 and a low of 161,279.02, while total volume reached 361.89 million shares. Slightly more than half of the index companies finished higher, led by FFC, PTC, LOTCHEM, PPL, and MLCF, while TPLRF1, PSEL, and BNWM were among the top decliners.
