PMDC sets annual fee cap for MBBS, BDS

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has set an annual fee cap for MBBS and BDS programmes in private medical and dental colleges, issuing a clarification on tuition charges.

According to a PMDC notification, based on recommendations of a committee formed on the prime minister’s directives, the maximum tuition fee for MBBS and BDS programmes — including all ancillary charges — has been fixed at Rs 1.8 million.

The council said the fee cap will apply to all sessions, covering all students enrolled from first year to final year in the 2024–25 academic session.

PMDC further stated that the revised tuition fee of Rs 1.89 million, announced on October 6, 2025, after a five per cent increase, will apply from the 2025–26 session onwards for all sessions and for students from first year to final year in MBBS and BDS programmes.

The notification added that any increase in tuition fees after 2026, including all sub-charges, will be based solely on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), and a separate notification will be issued at the relevant time.

PMDC has directed all private medical and dental colleges to strictly comply with these instructions, warning that strict action will be taken in case of violations.
