PM reaffirms Pakistan’s unwavering support for Palestine

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the people of Palestine.

He made the pledge during a meeting with Mahmoud Sidqi Al-Habbash, Adviser to the Palestinian President on Religious Affairs and Chief Justice of the Sharia Court, who is leading a delegation to Pakistan to attend the “Seerat Conference” in Islamabad.

Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque Ahmed Hussein and the Palestinian ambassador to Pakistan were also present.

The prime minister conveyed his greetings to President Mahmoud Abbas and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Palestine. He assured that Pakistan would continue to stand by the brotherly people of Palestine, who have made immense sacrifices and are resisting Israeli aggression.

Shehbaz Sharif further affirmed that Pakistan would continue to raise its voice at every diplomatic forum in defense of Palestinian rights. Referring to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, he pledged continued humanitarian assistance for those facing famine under Israeli occupation.

Al-Habbash expressed gratitude on behalf of the Palestinian people for Pakistan’s steadfast support. He highlighted the historic and deep-rooted ties between the two nations, saying Pakistan’s solidarity during these difficult times serves as a source of strength. He also conveyed condolences over the recent floods in Pakistan and presented a letter from President Mahmoud Abbas to the prime minister.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also met the Palestinian delegation. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Palestinian people and their legitimate struggle for freedom, dignity, and statehood.

Dar reiterated Pakistan’s support for an independent, sovereign, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine, based on pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

He strongly condemned Israeli aggression and war crimes, including genocide, starvation, mass killings, settlements, annexations, and forced displacement. He called for a permanent and unconditional ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian aid, and accountability for violations of international law.

Senator Dar pledged Pakistan’s continued support for the Palestinian people in their just cause.
