PKR3.2B ecstasy smuggling ring busted at Karachi airport

Ecstasy ring busted Karachi

WEB DESK:  In a major crackdown, Pakistan Customs has successfully dismantled a sophisticated international narcotics smuggling network operating through Jinnah International Airport, arresting its alleged ringleader and seizing a massive consignment of ecstasy tablets valued at over Rs3.2 billion.

The operation culminated in the recovery of more than 10,000 ecstasy tablets, weighing approximately 4.5 kilograms. The drugs, which originated in Germany, were being trafficked into Pakistan via international postal channels.

The investigation was launched following the detection of a suspicious parcel at the airport’s Foreign Mail Office in December 2025. Authorities conducted a strategic surveillance operation when an individual named Kamran arrived to collect the shipment. Through sustained monitoring, customs officials traced the network’s activities to a covert distribution hub located in the Korangi area of Karachi.

A subsequent raid led to the arrest of the syndicate’s alleged mastermind, Sher Muhammad, son of Muhammad Jan, along with several other members of the organised group. This seizure represents a significant blow to a major conduit for narcotics trafficking.

Customs officials have confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to identify all international and domestic links within the smuggling ring and to map the full extent of its operations.
