PIA flight makes emergency landing

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight faced a mid-air technical issue on Saturday, forcing an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.

According to sources, flight PK-860, carrying over 350 passengers from Jeddah to Lahore, reported a technical fault mid-flight.

The pilot contacted the air traffic control and asked permission to make an emergency landing. The aircraft was diverted to Dammam for a safe landing.

During the emergency landing, oxygen masks were deployed inside the cabin as a precaution.

PIA confirmed that all passengers and crew landed safely, and further investigation into the technical issue is under way.

On January 16, 2025, a PIA flight from Saudi Arabia to Lahore also made an emergency landing at Dammam International Airport soon after takeoff.

The PIA flight PK 244 took off from Dammam airport and was bound for Lahore when soon after take off the pilot noticed a technical glitch in the communication system.

The pilot contacted the air traffic control and asked permission to make an emergency landing.
