LAHORE: Pakistan team captain for T20 cricket Salman Ali Agha has underlined the importance of playing according to conditions and maintaining team balance as the Men in Green prepare for their upcoming T20 series against Australia.
“We always try to play cricket according to the conditions. Where the pitch allows, we’ve managed to score over 200 runs, but in less favorable conditions, scoring big becomes challenging,” said Agha.
The captain emphasized that no opponent should be underestimated in T20 cricket. “There is no big or small team in international cricket. Every player knows their role, and we will select the team according to the conditions.”
Agha also highlighted the significance of experience in the squad. “Having experienced players in the team is a huge benefit. Some of our players have represented Pakistan in previous World Cups, and their performance will be very important. Usman Tariq, for example, can be a real trump card for us in the World Cup.”
Looking ahead to the Australia series, Agha praised the visitors and noted the importance of performing well at home. “The Australian team always plays good cricket. Our fans in Lahore have always supported us passionately. They have high expectations, and if we perform, they show immense love, but if we don’t, their frustration is justified.”
The series is expected to help finalize Pakistan’s combination for the World Cup. “This series is very important. We want to make up for what we missed in previous series and prepare for the big stage. We all know our roles and how to play according to the conditions,” Agha added.
On individual performances, Agha defended star batsman Babar Azam, who has been in good form in the BBL. “There was never any reason for doubt. Babar has been playing well, and we’re confident in his abilities.”
Pakistan’s camp appears focused, experienced, and aware of both the challenges and opportunities ahead as they gear up for a crucial series against a formidable Australian side.
