ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has once again demonstrated its strategic foresight and diplomatic acumen on the international stage, earning accolades from leading global journals for its recent engagements in Washington, DC.

According to The Diplomat, Pakistan skillfully steered its relations with the United States toward a new direction, turning potential crises into opportunities and proving itself as an indispensable and reliable partner. While India, long considered a US ally, faces steep 50 per cent tariffs and the denial of high-profile visits, Pakistan’s diplomacy earned recognition and tangible results.

The journal highlighted Pakistan’s ability to leverage President Trump’s mediation efforts, following the Indo-Pak conflict, to strengthen bilateral ties. In a historic move, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistani Army Chief visited the White House in September 2025, engaging in discussions that extended beyond security concerns to trade and investment opportunities.

“This successful diplomacy has revitalized the old pillars of Pakistan-US counter-terrorism cooperation and paved the way for a more productive partnership,” The Diplomat reported, noting the restoration of trust and operational collaboration.

The report also contrasted Pakistan’s achievements with India’s setbacks, noting that New Delhi missed out on the Quad Summit, presidential visits, and trade relief. Meanwhile, the United States imposed stringent measures on India, including a 50 per cent tariff, citing the lack of a comprehensive trade agreement.

Pakistan’s international engagements did not stop with Washington. In January 2026, Islamabad also emphasized the renewal of diplomatic ties with China, further solidifying its position as a key player in regional and global affairs. Additionally, the US designated the Balochistan Liberation Army and Majeed Brigade as terrorist organizations, aligning with Pakistan’s counter-terrorism priorities.

The Diplomat concluded that Pakistan’s strategic prudence, professionalism, and constructive approach in foreign policy have once again elevated the country’s standing on the global stage, reflecting the nation’s resilience and vision.

With its diplomatic success in Washington, Pakistan has proven that it can navigate complex international challenges while safeguarding national interests, earning respect and admiration worldwide.
