Pakistan submits preliminary squad to ICC for T20 World Cup 2026

WEB DESK: The Pakistan national cricket team has submitted its preliminary squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 to the International Cricket Council, sources confirmed on Friday.
According to officials, the Pakistan Cricket Board forwarded the initial list in line with the ICC’s deadline for provisional squads. Under tournament regulations, the PCB can make changes to the submitted names without ICC approval until January 31. Any alterations after that date will require clearance from the ICC’s Technical Committee.
Along with the provisional 15-member squad, the PCB has also submitted the names of reserve players. Final selections for both the T20 World Cup and Pakistan’s upcoming series against Australia are expected to be announced after the conclusion of the team’s tour of Sri Lanka.
Sources said the preliminary list includes players from the Sri Lanka tour as well as senior figures such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf. The squad for the Sri Lanka T20 series features captain Salman Ali Agha, Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Muhammad Nafi, and Mohammad Nawaz.
Other players named in the wider preliminary group include Mohammad Salman Mirza, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Usman Khan, and Usman Tariq.
