WEB DESK: The Pakistan Navy formally assumed command of Combined Task Force-150 (CTF-150) for the 14th time at the Headquarters of Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) in Manama, Bahrain.
The change-of-command ceremony was presided over by U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Curt Renshaw, Commander of CMF. Command was handed over by Commodore Fahad S. Al Joaid of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces to Commodore Muhammad Yasir Tahir of the Pakistan Navy.
CTF-150 is a multinational task force responsible for maritime security operations in the Gulf of Aden, Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and parts of the Indian Ocean. Its mission includes countering terrorism, piracy, smuggling, arms trafficking, and other illicit activities through coordinated patrols, intelligence sharing, and enforcement.
Commodore Tahir, a qualified Principal Warfare Officer with prior command experience aboard PNS Aslat and PNS Taimur, reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to advancing the task force’s objectives and ensuring the safety of vital international sea lines of communication.
This handover reflects the continued international confidence in the Pakistan Navy’s capabilities and underscores its longstanding role in promoting regional and global maritime security through collaborative partnerships.
