No proposal to extend polling time under consideration: ECP

ISLAMABAD: A spokesperson for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) stated that no proposal to extend the polling time is currently under consideration.

He confirmed that the polling hours across the country will remain open till 5 pm, with unofficial results to be broadcasted after 6 pm.
The ECP spokesperson also mentioned that the polling process is proceeding peacefully nationwide.

The spokesperson also reported that over 55 different complaints were received by the election body, including issues such as the late start of the CP’s monitoring cell coupling. “Out of these complaints, 45 have been resolved, while efforts to address the remaining 10 are ongoing”, the spokesperson said.

128 million registered voters within Pakistan are currently voting across the country in 855 constituencies.

While acknowledging the difficulties posed during the election including suspension of mobile services, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar encouraged citizens to vote after casting his own vote.
