ISLAMABAD: The federal capital Islamabad has rolled out a digital e-stamping system aimed at putting an end to the long-standing issue of forged stamp papers and improving transparency in official transactions.
According to the district administration, the Federal Treasury has stopped issuing new traditional stamp papers in the capital. However, stamp papers that were issued earlier will remain valid and can be used until their respective expiry dates.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad said the new system has already shown encouraging results, with 585 challans generated so far under the e-stamping initiative. He added that the digital process ensures a complete and secure record of stamp-related data, reducing the risk of tampering and misuse.
Under the new arrangement, citizens can verify their e-stamps through the Citizen Portal, making it easier to confirm authenticity and further minimising the chances of fraud.
Officials said the e-stamping system is designed to offer faster and more secure services, while strengthening public confidence by promoting convenience, transparency and accountability in government procedures.
