Nido Hum Whizz Islamabad regional rounds kick off with enthusiasm

WEB DESK: The Nido Hum Whizz Islamabad regional rounds commenced today, marking another exciting step in the nationwide spelling competition. The event brought together young spelling enthusiasts from across the region to showcase their linguistic talent and confidence on stage.
The judging panel featured Sumbal Wahab from OGDCL and Qudsia Anwer as the moderator from Hum Network, while Tooba Malik served as the official pronouncer. Each team is given 40 seconds per word, with the option to ask questions for the first 20 seconds, after which spelling accuracy became crucial.
Participants were reminded that “winning and losing is part of the competition — clap for yourself,” encouraging sportsmanship and positivity. All spellers took their places in the central seating area as rounds began. The Islamabad leg of the contest promises fierce yet friendly competition, celebrating talent, learning, and confidence among young achievers.
Earlier, the pool rounds were held yesterday at the NICL Building. The event showcased the intelligence, confidence, and linguistic skills of young students who impressed judges and audiences alike with their accurate pronunciation and spelling mastery.
Students between the ages of 6 and 17 competed across pools A to H, displaying discipline and enthusiasm throughout the competition. Arya Dar Shehwar served as the judge, Ayesha Khawar as the pronouncer, and Qudsia Anwar as the moderator.
The winning schools from each pool included:
- Pool A: Asas International School, EMS High School, Meezan Schools
- Pool B: Meezan Schools, Pearl Valley Public School, Westminster International School
- Pool C: Bahria College Anchorage, EMS High School, Preparatory School Islamabad
- Pool D: Pearl Valley Public School, Sadiq Public School (Boys Wing), Sadiq Public School Islamabad Campus
- Pool E: EMS High School, Westminster International School, Asas International School
- Pool F: Iskans International Islamic School, EMS High School, Sadiq Public School
- Pool G: EMS High School, Pearl Valley Public School, Iskans International Islamic School
- Pool H: Bahria College Anchorage, Sadiq Public School, Westminster International School, EMS High School, Pearl Valley Public School, and Iskans International Islamic School.
Organised by Nestlé Nido and Hum News, the competition is supported by OGDCL and Innovate Choco Rings, with Wonderland as the entertainment partner, Avari Express as hospitality partner, Humz Tech providing technical support, Myco handling the live stream, and Burger O’Clock as the meal partner.
According to the organisers, the aim of Nido Hum Spelling Whizz is to enhance children’s command of language, improve pronunciation and spelling accuracy, and boost their academic confidence through a healthy competitive environment.
The Karachi rounds were held from October 20 to 23, followed by the Regional Round at the Arts Council on October 24. The Islamabad Regional Round will take place tomorrow, October 29, at the NICL Building, while Lahore’s pool and regional rounds are scheduled for October 31 and November 1 respectively. The grand finale will be held on November 3 at Alhamra Hall, Lahore, where top teams from all cities will compete for the national title.
