May 9 riots: ATC allows police to investigate three PTI elders at jail


LAHORE:  An anti-terrorism court in Lahore on Saturday permitted the police to conduct an investigation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders Yasmeen Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry, and Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed at the jail in connection with May 9 riots.

Judge Ejaz Ahmad Buttar granted police permission for the investigation.

Earlier, on Wednesday Judge Ejaz Ahmad Buttar had also granted police permission to investigate the PTI chairman. Following the investigation, the police had submitted a request for his investigation and subsequent arrest at Attock Jail.

In a separate development, a local court on Friday extended the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) three more days of physical remand for PTI’s Vice Chairman, Shah Mahmood Qureshi. The case pertains to a cypher case registered under the Official Secrets Act.
