Lahore witnesses surge in dengue cases with 59 reported in 24 hours

LAHORE: The Department of Primary and Secondary Healthcare Punjab has reported a concerning surge in dengue cases across the province in the past 24 hours.

A total of 59 new cases have been confirmed, bringing the tally of affected individuals to 802 this year in Punjab. However, no deaths have been reported in the province during the current year.

Among the reported cases in the province, Lahore is bearing a significant brunt with 266 confirmed cases of dengue. Other major cities affected include Multan with 127 cases, Rawalpindi with 124 cases, and Faisalabad with 70 cases.

The Department of Primary and Secondary Healthcare disclosed that hospitals throughout Punjab are currently treating 70 patients diagnosed with dengue.

Efforts to combat the spread of dengue are ongoing, with health officials urging citizens to take preventive measures such as eliminating breeding sites for mosquitoes and practicing personal protection against mosquito bites.

As the dengue virus continues to pose a threat, authorities are actively monitoring the situation.
