PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi announced on Saturday that he will visit Adiala Jail on Thursday, signaling his administration’s commitment to addressing ongoing grievances and injustices.

Speaking to a large public gathering in Mardan, Afridi said all preparations for the visit have been completed and noted the importance of raising voices against wrongdoing. “Remaining silent is not an option in the current situation,” he said, urging citizens to demand accountability.

Afridi also clarified that Mahmood Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas have been entrusted with leading negotiations to resolve disputes, promising that those responsible for theft, robbery, or oppression will soon face consequences. “The struggle for the rights of the people will continue, and no pressure will deter us,” he added.

The Chief Minister instructed party workers to maintain peace and ensure that any protests remain within the limits of the law.

Meanwhile, demonstrations erupted in Mardan during Afridi’s visit as local residents expressed frustration over delays in compensation for lands acquired for Abdul Wali Khan University and other institutions. Protesters claimed that despite years passing, they have yet to receive fair compensation for their property.

Afridi’s upcoming visit to Adiala Jail is seen as a critical step in addressing both public grievances and the ongoing legal and administrative issues facing the province.
