ISLAMABAD: In a significant development concerning the legal proceedings of the Toshakhana case, Khawaja Haris, a prominent member of the legal team representing PTI Chairman, has bid farewell to his role.
Haris, who played a pivotal role as the PTI chairman’s lawyer in the Toshakhana case, has made the decision to step down from the team citing concerns related to ‘discipline’.
Earlier today, Khawaja Haris concluded his tenure by transferring all pertinent case files and related materials to the Chairman PTI’s legal team.

This transition comes in the wake of internal deliberations and discussions surrounding the strategic direction of the legal defense in the Toshakhana case.
Of notable significance, Khawaja Haris’s departure coincides with a critical juncture in the legal proceedings. As the appeals process, including the suspension of sentence appeal, unfolds in the Toshakhana case, Khawaja Haris has indicated that he will not be representing PTI’s interests moving forward.
Haris has been appearing on behalf of the Sharif family for the last two decades. His father Khawaja Sultan was the counsel of former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif in the plane hijacking case in 2000.
Haris had assisted his father in that case. Later, he became the lawyer of the Sharif brothers after their return to Pakistan in 2008. Haris was also engaged by Nawaz to challenge his conviction in the hijacking case and won acquittal by the apex court.
