Jeffrey Epstein’s brother claims new autopsy will ‘prove’ he was murdered

Jeffrey and Mark Epstein

Jeffrey Epstein’s brother has renewed his claim that the convicted sex offender did not die by suicide, insisting that a new autopsy report expected in February will “prove” he was murdered.

Mark Epstein said on Friday that “more autopsy facts” would soon be released, which he believes will confirm his long-standing allegation that his brother was killed.

Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex trafficker, was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York on August 10, 2019, while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. Authorities ruled his death a suicide by hanging.

Mark Epstein was the family member who formally identified the body.

He has disputed the official findings for years

As questions mounted over the circumstances of Jeffrey Epstein’s death, Mark hired former New York City chief medical examiner Dr Michael Baden, who said at the time that the “evidence points to homicide rather than suicide”.

However, in June 2023, the FBI and the US Department of Justice said there was no credible evidence of foul play, according to a DOJ report.

Despite those findings, Mark has continued to dispute the official version of events.

In an interview with NBC News in July 2025, he said: “More and more, I believe he was murdered. And everyone who looks at all the information that’s out there on facts comes to the same conclusion.”

‘More autopsy facts’ coming in February

Speaking again on News Nation Now on Friday, Mark repeated his belief that his brother was killed.

“More autopsy facts will be coming out in February that prove it,” he said.

He claimed that when he saw Jeffrey’s body, the injuries “didn’t correspond to the way his body was found hanging”.

“There are only three ways to die in prison,” he said. “Suicide, natural causes or murder. And Jeff was murdered. I want to know who killed him and on whose behalf.”

Mark also alleged that the official investigations amounted to a “cover-up”.

“Why the charade?” he asked. “Who are they trying to protect?”

Dispute with Ghislaine Maxwell’s comments

Mark dismissed comments made by Ghislaine Maxwell in August 2025, in which she said she did not believe Epstein was murdered, though she acknowledged it was “of course” possible.

In his News Nation interview, Mark said he “wouldn’t trust anything” Maxwell says, adding that she “never saw the body or talked to Jeff before he died”.

Claims about withheld information

Mark has also made wider claims about the handling of Epstein-related files.

In a November 2025 interview, he said an unnamed source told him that the names of conservative politicians were being removed from Epstein-related documents.

Days later, he claimed on CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront that former US President Donald Trump had delayed the release of the Epstein files.

He also alleged that his brother had incriminating information about Trump during the 2016 election, though he said Jeffrey never told him what that information was.
