HARARE: India Under-19 delivered a clinical bowling performance to skittle Zimbabwe Under-19 for 148, sealing a thumping 204-run victory in their ICC U19 World Cup Super Six encounter at the Queens Sports Club on Tuesday. The win capped off a dominant all-round display by the Men in Blue, who earlier piled up a mammoth total of 352 runs.

After being asked to bat first, India U19 laid the foundation for victory with a commanding batting effort. Vihaan Manoj Malhotra led the charge with a sublime 109 off 107 balls, anchoring the innings with maturity beyond his years. He received solid support from Abhigyan Abhishek Kundu, who struck 61, while Vaibhav Sooryanvanshi provided late fireworks with a blistering 52 off 30 balls. The trio’s combined dominance powered India to 352/8 in 50 overs, putting Zimbabwe under immediate pressure.
Facing a daunting chase, Zimbabwe U19 never found momentum. Their innings began disastrously when wicketkeeper Nathaniel Tadiwanashe Melusi Hlabangana was dismissed for a duck in the third over by Ambrish R S, leaving the hosts reeling at 1/1. Dhruv Patel briefly showed intent but fell for 8, and early breakthroughs allowed India to tighten their grip on the match.

Although Kian Hendrik Bignaut attempted to stabilise the innings with a patient 37 off 73 balls, the required run rate kept rising. Captain Brandon Ivainesu Senzere struggled to lead from the front, scoring just 3 runs, as wickets fell in clusters under relentless pressure from the Indian bowlers.
The lone moment of resistance came from Leeroy Munashe Chiawula, who played a brave knock of 62 off 77 balls, striking seven boundaries. Alongside Tatenda Fortune Chimuogoro, who chipped in with a quick 29, Chiawula briefly delayed the inevitable. However, India’s bowlers stayed disciplined, with Ayush Mhatre and Mohan Manish Udhav returning to clean up the tail efficiently.
Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 148 in 37.4 overs, underlining India’s dominance with the ball. The fall of wickets told a familiar story, which went as early strikes, sustained middle-order pressure, and a swift finish.
With this emphatic win, India U19 strengthened their position in the Super Six stage of the ICC U19 World Cup, reinforcing their status as strong title contenders. For Zimbabwe U19, the match proved a harsh lesson against a well-drilled Indian side that excelled in every department.
