ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has scheduled the bail plea of the PTI chairman for a hearing on Monday in the cipher case.

The IHC registrar has released the cause list for the upcoming week, including the PTI chairman’s bail case.

The bail application of the PTI chairman in the cipher case will be addressed on Monday, with Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Amir Farooq presiding. The court has issued a notice to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for arguments in the case.

Previously, the court had also requested arguments from the FIA regarding the case.

Under the Official Secrets Act, a special court had previously rejected post-arrest bail pleas filed by Khan and his party’s Vice Chairman, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, in relation to the missing cipher case.

Both Khan and Qureshi are currently detained on judicial remand in the cipher case until September 26.

Last month, the FIA charged the PTI chief and his party’s vice chairman under the Official Secrets Act for alleged mishandling and misuse of classified documents for political gain.

Subsequently, both leaders were arrested as part of the investigation, and a special court was established under the Official Secrets Act to conduct the trial.
