MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Hamad Azhar has announced his intention to appeal against the decision of the Election Tribunal, following the rejection of his nomination papers. Taking to a social media platform “X,” Azhar reassured his supporters that there was no cause for concern, asserting that the law was unequivocal in allowing individuals to contest elections.

In his statement, Azhar pointed out the existence of contradictory judicial decisions supporting a person’s right to fight against injustices. Despite expressing confidence in the legal system, he announced his decision to challenge the decision of the election tribunal.

To illustrate his point, Azhar shared an image of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ishaq Dar, highlighting that Dar had not only contested an election but had also been provided with an official plane for his campaign. Azhar questioned the apparent contradiction, raising concerns about the existence of two sets of laws within the country.

The Election Tribunal’s decision to uphold the rejection of Hamad Azhar’s nomination papers came after a similar ruling by the returning officer (RO). The rejection pertained to NA 129. – INP
