GTA 6 hype hits new level as fans argue over what Rockstar’s next trailer will reveal

WEB DESK: The hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 refuses to slow down as fans clash online over what Rockstar Games might reveal next. With two trailers already out and a confirmed release date of May 26, 2026, the wait for Trailer 3 has sparked wild speculation and divided opinions across social media.

While Rockstar has remained characteristically quiet, some fans are convinced the next trailer could finally show actual gameplay. Others believe it will focus on the main characters, Jason and Lucia, or simply bring another round of screenshots and teasers.

Gameplay reveal or more cinematic hype?

A post on the GTA 6 Reddit community recently set off a new wave of debate after one user predicted that the next trailer would feature real gameplay instead of just in-engine footage. The user argued that Rockstar’s marketing approach for GTA 6 has been noticeably different this time, pointing out the unexpected release of 70 screenshots alongside Trailer 2.

Supporters of this idea expect a gameplay-focused video around January, while others insist it’s too early for that. “We might just get separate character trailers for Jason and Lucia,” one fan wrote, suggesting Rockstar will stick to its traditional marketing rhythm.

Some long-time followers argue that nothing has really changed in Rockstar’s strategy, calling the flood of screenshots an exaggerated but familiar move for what is likely to be the company’s biggest release ever.

Conspiracy theories over Jason’s watch

As the fan community waits impatiently, some have started searching for hidden clues in the existing trailers. One popular theory doing the rounds on social media suggests that the time on Jason’s watch—shown as “11:08” in Trailer 2, might hint at a release date for the next trailer, possibly November 8.

The theory gained attention after being shared by a fan account named GTAVI_Countdown on X (formerly Twitter). However, many players were quick to call it a stretch, reminding others that Rockstar rarely leaves such hints and typically reveals updates on its own schedule.

Still, the excitement shows no signs of fading. Fans have dissected everything from the moon’s position to car bullet holes in hopes of finding secret messages from Rockstar. For many, the wait has turned into an online treasure hunt.

Pre-orders and fan loyalty

While the speculation continues, GTA 6 fans have already pledged their money before pre-orders even open. On Reddit, players shared memes joking about how fast they’ll purchase the game once pre-orders go live. “The only pre-order worth it,” one comment read, while another added, “Rockstar is the only company I still trust enough to pre-order from.”

Not everyone agrees, though. Some fans remain cautious after the troubled launch of Cyberpunk 2077, saying they’d rather wait for gameplay footage first.

GTA 6 will take players back to Vice City, reimagined as part of the fictional state of Leonidas. The story will follow Jason and Lucia, a criminal couple navigating a world filled with heists, chaos, and ambition. With more than a decade since GTA 5’s release, expectations couldn’t be higher.

Whether Trailer 3 drops in November or sometime next year, one thing is certain: Rockstar has the entire gaming world’s attention.
