Govt to launch WhatsApp-like app for employees

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on IT, chaired by Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque, discussed the launch of a WhatsApp-like app for secure communication among government employees during a meeting on Tuesday.

Hauqe stated that the app was developed two years ago as a WhatsApp alternative. He directed the Ministry of IT and the National Information Technology Board “NITB” to launch the app within three months.

During the meeting Committee member Ahmed Atiq said that government officers should be mandated to communicate through official channels only. “Government employees should declare their personal email and social media accounts,” he added.
