ISLAMABAD: The federal government has directed all ministries or divisions to take prior approval of the prime minister in cases related to negotiated instruments with foreign countries, including memorandum of understanding (MoUs), agreements for collaboration and international contracts before placing them in the cabinet.

Sources said that the federal cabinet in its meeting held on October 30 decided that “henceforth all cases relating to negotiated instruments with foreign countries, including MoUs, agreements for collaboration and international contracts shall, in the first instance, require the Prime Minister’s approval for placement before the cabinet whether for disposal in accordance with rule 17 (1) (a) or 17 (1) (b) of the Rules of Business, 1973”.
