Gmail introduces new features to turn inbox into personal assistant with AI

CALIFORNIA: As part of personal Gmail security, the Google platform is rolling out some cool new AI-powered features in Gmail that can basically turn your inbox into your personal assistant.

With these tools, you’ll be able to get help writing emails and see summaries of important info hiding in your inbox. With this, you will also get a daily to-do list.

These updates are a big step for Gmail–almost 22 years after it first changed the way we use email, according to Google.

At first, these AI features will only be available to users in the US and in English, but Google plans to expand them to other countries and languages later this year.

The main tool, Help Me Write, learns your writing style and makes your emails sound more personal while giving you quick suggestions.

For Pro and Ultra subscribers, there’s also a feature where you can ask questions in Gmail’s search bar in a chat-style format, and it will give instant answers—similar to what Google Search has been offering with AI since 2023.

Another feature, AI Inbox, is coming to selected US users. It looks through your inbox and suggests possible tasks or topics to focus on.

Blake Barnes, Google’s VP of Product, said this is Gmail’s way of “always being there for you.”

All of this is powered by Google’s latest AI model, Gemini 3, which launched last year in Google Search and has been very well-received by users.
