WEB DESK: US military officials General Caine said on Saturday that the recent airstrike conducted a day earlier on Venezuela was carried out under a covert mission known as operation “Absolute Resolve”.
Addressing the media, General Caine said that operation “Absolute Resolve” was a tightly planned and precisely executed operation conducted during the darkest hours of the night.
According to the general, the operation relied on advanced surveillance systems, coordinated intelligence, and precision-guided weapons aimed at minimising collateral damage. The official said the mission was “highly controlled” and completed within a narrow operational window.
The official said that the nighttime timing was deliberately chosen to reduce civilian movement and avoid detection. Multiple US agencies were involved in the planning and execution, though many details remain classified due to ongoing security concerns.
The Army official said Operation Absolute Resolve was authorised directly by the US Commander-in-Chief and coordinated through the Department of Defence alongside senior national security officials. He declined to identify specific targets or the military assets used, citing operational sensitivity.
US defense officials said further briefings are expected as assessments continue. The Pentagon has not released independent confirmation of damage assessments or casualty figures, saying evaluations are still underway.
