Gallup survey

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has ranked ahead of India in public optimism regarding economic conditions and global peace, according to the latest Global Economic Gallup Survey conducted across 60 countries.

The survey indicates an improvement in Pakistan’s economic outlook at the start of the new year, with 51 per cent of respondents in Pakistan expressing optimism about the country’s economic future. This figure is notably higher than India’s 39 per cent and well above the global average of 24 per cent, the survey found.

Overall, 31 per cent of respondents worldwide reported a positive outlook on economic conditions, placing Pakistan among the more optimistic nations included in the study.

In addition to economic confidence, Pakistan also performed strongly on indicators related to peace. According to the survey, 52 per cent of Pakistanis expressed hope for greater peace in the world, reflecting a comparatively positive public mood. In contrast, only 26 per cent of respondents in India shared similar expectations regarding global peace.

Gallup noted that the findings suggest a growing sense of confidence among Pakistanis, both in terms of economic prospects and hopes for stability and peace, as the new year begins.
