Field Marshal Asim Munir urges cricket players to be national ambassadors

ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has hailed Pakistan’s historic triumph in the Under-19 Asia Cup as a moment of pride for the entire nation, praising the team’s discipline, teamwork and fighting spirit.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR, the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team met Field Marshal Asim Munir at GHQ Rawalpindi, where he personally congratulated the players, team management and officials on their remarkable victory.

He lauded the young cricketers for their hard work and dedication, describing it as a reflection of the immense talent of Pakistan’s youth.

He urged the players to maintain professional standards and serve as ambassadors for Pakistan both on and off the field.

“The future of Pakistan lies with its youth. Their energy and character will define the nation’s global identity. Empowering young people is the foundation of national progress,” he said.

The Under-19 team expressed gratitude for the encouragement and support, acknowledging that the honour would inspire them to work harder and achieve even greater success.

Meanwhile, Swing king Waseem Akram has praised Pakistan’s Under-19 cricket team for clinching the Asia Cup in spectacular fashion.

In a statement, the former captain said that Ali Raza’s devastating bowling laid the foundation for victory, while Sameer Mehnas’s brilliant 172-run innings sealed the win. He added, “Future stars, well done — excellent performance.”
