FIA apprehends three illegal money changers


KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended three individuals involved in illicit money exchange operations, commonly known as hundi and hawala, within Karachi.

The FIA continues its rigorous campaign against unlawful money changers and hawala dealers operating in Karachi.

According to a spokesperson from the Federal Investigation Agency, the FIA Corporate Crime Circle executed an operation within a private shopping mall in Karachi, leading to the arrest of three suspects engaged in the illicit money exchange trade.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdullah, Siddique, and Mubeen. Additionally, authorities seized $3,200 in cash and four mobile phones from the suspects.

Previously, three FIA officers encountered substantial resistance and sustained injuries while conducting an operation against hoarders of US dollars and illegal currency exchange entities.

During these high-risk operations, FIA personnel faced fierce opposition from personnel working for unlicensed currency exchange entities, resulting in injuries to three dedicated FIA officers who were diligently performing their duties.

In a concerted effort to combat illegal dollar hoarding, the Federal Investigation Agency, along with several other government agencies, launched a series of operations in the capital city.
