LIVERPOOL: Sunderland pulled off a remarkable FA Cup third-round victory over Everton at Goodison Park, advancing 3-0 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
The Black Cats had taken the lead in the 30th minute through Enzo Le Fée, following a dominant first-half display. Sunderland controlled 53 per cent of possession, created six shots on target out of 16, and kept Everton under constant pressure. The visitors were clinical, making their chances count, while the hosts struggled to convert possession into opportunities, registering just three shots on target and failing to win a single corner.
Everton did show a late fightback through a James Garner penalty in the 89th minute, levelling the scores and forcing extra drama from the spot. However, Sunderland proved calm and precise in the shootout, converting all three of their penalties to seal a famous victory.

The result is a significant FA Cup upset, as Everton, with a 14-shot effort in normal time, could not overcome the composure and efficiency of the League One side. Sunderland’s performance underlined their confidence and resilience, while Everton will be left to rue missed chances in front of their home fans.
