ECP issues initial constituency delimitation list

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday unveiled the preliminary list of delimitation of constituencies.
The tentative list is based on the recently held digital census.
The completion of the delimitation process moves the ECP closer to conducting elections by the end of January, aligning with their intended schedule. However, the exact election date is yet to be announced.
The report can be viewed on the website of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

In a press release, the ECP announced that the preliminary delimitation report, along with the associated lists (Form 5), has been published on the commission’s website and is accessible to the general public. Additionally, maps depicting the initial delimitation are also accessible on the website.
“The publication of the preliminary constituencies will continue for 30 days from Sept 27 to Oct 26,” read the press release.
Objections regarding constituency designations will be considered until October 26, and hearings are slated to begin by November 25.
There are 266 seats in the National Assembly.
Punjab:
Punjab has been given 141 seats and each constituency has been divided based on a quota of 905,595.
297 seats have been allocated for the Punjab Assembly with each quota seat determined at 429,929.
Sindh:
For the Sindh province, 61 NA seats for the 55.6 million population have been divided on a quota of 913,052 per seat.
130 seats have been divided on a quota of 428,432 per seat for the Sindh Assembly.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 45 NA seats have been divided on a quota of 907,913 for the population of 40.8 million.
In the KP Assembly’s case, 115 seats have been divided on a quota of 355,270.
Balochistan:
16 NA seats have been for 14.8 million people of the province and each constituency has been dived on a quota of 930,900.
The Balochistan provincial assembly has 51 seats and each seat has been divided on the quota of 292,047.
