Earthquake tremors rock Swat, surrounding areas

SWAT: Residents of Swat, Mingora, and the surrounding areas were shaken by the unsettling tremors of an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale. The seismic event, recorded at the Seismological Center, sent ripples of concern through the region as people felt the ground beneath them shift.

The epicenter of the earthquake was pinpointed to Swat, lying approximately 142 km below the surface. While the tremors originated in Swat, the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan was identified as the epicenter of the earthquake, underscoring the seismic activity’s broader impact across borders.

As the ground shook and buildings swayed, residents scrambled for safety, with reports of minor disruptions emerging from various parts of the affected areas. Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of significant damage or casualties, although authorities remain vigilant in assessing the situation.
