ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Wednesday launched the Infrastructure Audit Programme 2026 to ensure Pakistan is fully prepared ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
The infrastructure audit programme was formally inaugurated at the NDMA Headquarters here, and it will be implemented at both the federal and provincial levels.
Under the initiative, priority will be given to assessing structures that are most vulnerable to natural disasters. The audit will use modern technical methodologies and a digital reporting system to monitor and evaluate the safety of infrastructure.
The seminar launching the programme emphasised the importance of effective coordination between federal and provincial institutions. Chairman NDMA highlighted that losses during natural disasters are often caused by substandard and unplanned construction, stressing the need for proactive measures.
Federal Minister for Housing, Riyaz Hussain Pirzada, said the programme will help strengthen preparedness, make constructions safer, and reduce potential losses. He also reaffirmed the commitment of federal and provincial bodies to implement the Infrastructure Audit Programme 2026 jointly.
