Florida sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway has announced that he is stepping down from the University of Florida football team, intending to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. The update about DJ Lagway came from On3’s Pete Nakos.
Who is DJ Lagway?
The 20-year-old DJ Lagway is an American college football quarterback who played as a full-time sophomore for the Florida Gators, throwing for 2,264 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
Florida finished the season 4-8, with wins over Long Island, Texas, Florida State, and Mississippi State — all at home. After the firing of coach Napier following the win over Mississippi State, the team went 1-4 in remaining games.
DJ Lagway announced his decision in a social media post on Monday morning, writing: “First and foremost, I want to thank God for every blessing he has placed over my life.” DJ Lagway also expressed gratitude to the Gators, stating: “I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such an incredible program here at the University of Florida.”

Considered a five-star recruit and the No1 quarterback in the US by 247Sports, DJ Lagway was also ranked as the No3 player in his class.
