DERA ISMAIL KHAN: At least five people were killed and 10 others injured in a suicide attack at the home of a peace committee member near Qureshi Mor in Dera Ismail Khan, officials said.
According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi, the injured and the deceased were immediately shifted to the hospital.
Seven ambulances, a fire vehicle, and a disaster response vehicle rushed to the scene, where rescue operations are still ongoing.
Dera Ismail Khan District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada confirmed that the blast occurred at the residence of Noor Alam Mehsud, a peace committee leader, during a wedding ceremony. He said an emergency has been declared at the District Headquarters Hospital.
“The explosion was a suicide blast. It is too early to comment on the full scale of casualties,” DPO Sahibzada said.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed grief over the incident and ordered a report, stressing that “all possible medical assistance should be provided to the injured.”
The attack comes weeks after armed assailants killed four members of a peace committee in Bannu district. In November 2025, seven people, including a former militant known as a ‘good Talib’ and his relatives, were killed in a similar attack on a peace committee office in Bannu.
Authorities have vowed to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.
