Cynthia Erivo sparks an unexpected response from Sisqó

Cynthia Erivo’s praise for Sisqó’s early-2000s hit Thong Song has earned her an unexpected and very public invitation from the singer.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Wicked star revisited the track and highlighted its vocal complexity. She pointed out the key change near the end of the song and the impressive runs in the final section, joking about how such a technically demanding performance was dedicated to something as simple as an undergarment.

Sisqó has now responded, offering Erivo a VIP experience at his upcoming London show at The O2 Arena. He described her, along with Wicked co-star Ariana Grande, as two of his favourite vocalists, even if their styles differ vastly from his own.

Although the pair have only exchanged brief messages online, Sisqó said he would love for Erivo to attend the show in person and even hinted at the possibility of something more spontaneous on stage.

The singer also teased that one major star has expressed admiration for his work in the past, though he declined to reveal the name without fans watching the full interview.

For now, the ball is firmly in Erivo’s court. Whether or not she accepts the invitation, one thing is clear: a throwback hit has just created one of the most unexpected pop culture moments of the week.
